Magtutudlo Joel Huncar: A Pillar of De Campo in Canada
Sir Joel Huncar’s De Campo journey began in 2019, training under the guidance of Magtutudlo Louie Lindo, who introduced him to the original system passed down from Maestro Paolo. From the start, Sir Joel demonstrated an unwavering commitment to mastering the principles of De Campo 1-2-3 Original. Over the years, he has consistently trained and refined his understanding of the system, dedicating himself to learning the art in its purest form.
On November 20, 2021, Sir Joel was tested for the title of Magtutudlo. In front of fellow instructors, students, and Master Jomalin Caballero, Sir Joel led the group through the Elementary, High School, and College levels of De Campo. His performance wasn’t just about showcasing technique—it reflected the depth of his knowledge and his ability to articulate the finer nuances of the system. The certification process is rigorous, designed to ensure the highest standards of teaching, and Sir Joel passed with distinction.
Since earning the title of Magtutudlo, Sir Joel has taken on a critical role in preserving and promoting De Campo in Canada. He has become a vocal advocate for the system on social media, using platforms like Budo Brothers to showcase De Campo’s unique techniques and principles. His efforts align with the mission of De Campo 1-2-3 Original: to spread awareness of this powerful art and ensure its preservation for future generations.
Sir Joel’s enthusiasm for De Campo goes beyond teaching. His passion for the art is evident in his personal reflections, where he speaks about the minimalist nature of the system, its focus on power generation, and its adaptability. He often highlights how De Campo’s long-range principles can be combined with other martial arts, making it a versatile and effective system for both traditional and modern applications.
Despite his extensive background in Filipino Martial Arts, Sir Joel’s humility and dedication to learning have been key to his success. His commitment to De Campo’s core values—precision, power, and integrity—has made him a respected figure in the community.
As a certified Magtutudlo, Sir Joel is qualified to teach the full De Campo curriculum and promote students up to Level VII Hanas. His contributions have strengthened the De Campo community in Canada, ensuring that the legacy of Jose Caballero continues to thrive.
We are proud to have Sir Joel as part of our family of instructors. His dedication to De Campo and his efforts to share the art with the world are a testament to his character and commitment.
Congratulations, Magtutudlo Joel Huncar! Your passion, leadership, and hard work have set an example for all. We look forward to seeing you continue to shape the future of De Campo 1-2-3 Original.
Pugay!
