👣 The Footwork is the most overlooked secret in FMA.
Footwork can be disorderly, as practitioners either rush forward or hastily retreat, often moving out of fear rather than with confidence in their footwork. However, in De Campo, we adhere to a meticulously crafted methodology that refines footwork into a functional art, enabling practitioners to confidently position themselves against opponents.
Maestro Paolo explains some key features of the basic footwork in De Campo. He illustrates how, from the very start, students are taught to align their weight precisely with the position of the weapon. It's a simple yet powerful concept: if your weapon is on the right (Abierta) side, your weight follows suit; if it's on the left (Serrada) side, your weight shifts accordingly.
This disciplined approach we call the De Campo configuration, works like magic in seamlessly coordinating strikes with foot movements. It ensures that every strike sets up the next, all while maintaining a De Campo stance.

Throwback more than 4 years ago to an amazing video from Maestro Paolo's profile, showcasing the artistry of blade techniques in De Campo. Using locally crafted blades from Marinduque, he demonstrates the application of double blades through the fusion of Dos Manos Dos Largos and De Cadena De Cuerdas techniques. His precision is highlighted as he "minces" the banana tree with swift, controlled strikes, emphasizing quick hits to maintain a safe distance and reduce telegraphing.
At the end, catch Maestro joyfully swinging double blades while reminiscing about the playful swings of childhood.

On this National Heroes Day, we honor our brave ancestors who wielded blades for freedom.
De Campo's legacy weaves stick and blade techniques together, like Group 2 De Alfavito. This technique echoes the valor of our heroes.
While De Campo is renowned for stick fighting, its roots delve deep into the art of the blade. Jose Caballero's original curriculum, dating back to 1925, emphasizes the blade's nuances, even referencing scabbard positions in techniques.
