De Campo 1-2-3 Original
A devastating combat system of arnis in the Philippines founded in 1925 by Professor Jose Caballero.
"Combat Arnis"—a term Grandmaster Jose Caballero used to describe the practical and combative essence of De Campo. The notes reflect not only the emphasis on effective footwork and mastery under an experienced instructor but also the system’s depth through its Specializations.
The Specializations for Dos Manos and De Cadena (both Doble Baston techniques) are part of De Campo’s advanced curriculum, though only the Solo Baston specialization has been widely taught, particularly through Master Jomalin Caballero, who learned it from his father, GM Mawe Caballero. The High School Specialization, however, remains an exclusive and nuanced aspect of the system, passed down to a few practitioners through Manong Rolando Caballero, including Maestro Paolo Pagaling.
De Campo 1-2-3 Original, once a closely-guarded secret, continues to be a living legacy, deeply rooted in its traditions yet shared with the world today. Read more from this article link below:

In this video, Magtutudlo Ludwig van Ditten teaches his son Dylan the Rotation Drill, a fundamental exercise that sharpens the execution of the strike we call "Device" or "Redonda." In De Campo, we view strikes as flowing circles rather than linear motions. This approach ensures a seamless connection of strikes, maintaining a smooth and uninterrupted flow by utilizing the natural curves and paths of the weapon.
This father-and-son training moment beautifully showcases the essence of De Campo 1-2-3 Original—precision, flow, and the mastery of fundamentals. If you’re in the Netherlands, connect with Sir Ludwig through the De Campo 1-2-3 Original Nederland for in-person or remote training. Dutch-speaking enthusiasts can also train online with Sir Ludwig, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Thanks for sharing. Just to add on the message, not only Dutch, but also English speaking people can train with me online 😀🙏
At the recently conducted FMA Festival in the UK, Magtutudlo Aaron Davis showcased De Campo 1-2-3 Original with a demonstration of Mixing 5 Abierta from our mother drill, Group 6. This seemingly simple technique, when executed with the precision and fluidity that Sir Aaron demonstrates—proper footwork, stance, and body mechanics—becomes devastatingly effective.
Simple, direct, and lots of repetitions—that’s what we do in De Campo. Dive into the art of De Campo and experience firsthand how mastery of the fundamentals leads to extraordinary results. Nice video! I want to see how works it in a real sparring. Like Dog Brothers for example. 👍
Awesome…… 🙏🏼
In this video, Maestro Paolo demonstrates the Sagadsad footwork, a hallmark of the De Campo 1-2-3 Original system, while wielding an Ohas Tari blade—crafted with precision and heritage in Marinduque.
The Sagadsad footwork embodies fluidity and precision, allowing practitioners to slide effortlessly like a snake into optimal positions for offense and defense - even when wearing "tsinelas"! When paired with the elegant yet formidable Ohas Tari, a traditional Marinduque blade known for its versatility, this showcases a beautiful blend of balance, control, and cultural artistry.
For those inspired by this demonstration, this is just the tip of what De Campo 1-2-3 Original offers. Our online course dives deeper into the principles and techniques of this timeless Filipino martial art. Whether you're starting out or looking to refine your skills, our program offers structured lessons, including foundational footwork leading to more advanced ones like the Sagadsad and Paspas.

Is this footwork difficult to learn.
It was meant to be a secret, but since Magtutudlo Tavi already shared it… might as well let it spread a bit more, haha! De Campo!

In many FMA forums, you’ll see discussions where people dismiss the practice of slapping or tapping, especially the "bicep tap" or Pik-Pik. These critics often don’t understand its purpose and, as a result, think it’s pointless or even ridiculous. But for those of us in De Campo, this movement is far from trivial. It’s a fundamental part of how we enhance speed, rhythm, and control in our techniques.
If you’ve ever wondered what the Pik-Pik is really about and why we use it, check out our latest article. It breaks down the true purpose of this movement and explains how it enhances the effectiveness of our strikes.
If you want a video demonstration and a deeper understanding, join our community by signing up for our online course at decampo123.org/learn123
It’s time to clear up the confusion and truly understand what Pik-Pik can do for your training.

That's true, even when I was with my former Arnis system/style. The coach there ridiculed the way some styles do that bicep tapping. 😅
Initially I did not pik-pik at all except for a half strike from abierta. Now pik-pik is automatic. For me, it’s an indication that my baston needs to be precisely at the point of impact. It also made me aware of my check hand and when it should be extended and retracted. Lastly, the pik-pik feeling and sound is giving me a greater understanding of the subtle stomp in pas-pas footwork.
Pik - pik is one of the core parts of De Campo, and if you are not proficient in this move, it will be difficult to understand the essence of De Campo
Curious about the world of De Campo 1-2-3? In this quick 5-minute teaser, we’re giving you a sneak peek into the origins, evolution, and essence of a martial art that stayed hidden for nearly a century. This is just the beginning.
We dive into the story of Grandmaster Jose Caballero, who not only developed De Campo but became a Juego Todo legend, known for disarming opponents without lethal force in no-holds-barred fights. His art, once held close to the chest, is now accessible for the first time in history, thanks to the efforts of Maestro Paolo Pagaling and Master Jomalin Caballero.
You'll hear about the principles that make De Campo distinct – the practical, no-fluff techniques, the flow of strikes, and the fulcrum mechanics that bring out speed and power. The footwork drills, like Paspas and Sagadsad, are designed to keep you fast and elusive. And yes, there's even an online course where you can learn from the lineage holders themselves, with lifetime access, Zoom sessions, and a global community at your back.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Stay tuned for the full episode where we dive deeper into the techniques and philosophy behind De Campo. Once it's ready, we’ll drop the entire conversation.
